What is MobiLuck?

MobiLuck is a Friend Finder for your mobile that brings you closer to your friends. You can see where your friends are and you can tell them where you are. You can also choose to receive free SMS alerts when a friend is nearby. You’ll always know how to find each other, get in touch and meet at your favourite nearby restaurants, bars, nightclubs...

So it's a location based service. What about privacy issues?

In our opinion any location-based service has to put user privacy first and give you full control of who can see where you are. With MobiLuck you can show what you want, when you want, to whom you want.

Your location and your visibility are always shown at the top of the home page:

And if you click on the change link you can change your visibility:

To prevent specific individuals from seeing where you are, go to their profile page and then within that profile page click on the visibility link:

We have also implemented additional safeguards to give you control over your privacy:

  • Your contact and other personal details including your mobile number and email are not visible to others unless you explicitly add them to your profile. If you do add them to your profile, you can choose to show them to only your friends or nobody at all.
  • You can block another user with one click and you will become invisible to them so they cannot see your profile or where you are.
  • You can report someone behaving in a way inconsistent with the spirit of our friendly community by clicking on the 'report abuse' link on their profile page.

How do I get started?

Firstly, join the service! If you are not already a member,

When you first log in, you are presented with the home page. Here you can see all the social opportunities and events around you:

  • My Profile - This is how others will see you when searching for people nearby. You can change your profile by clicking on 'edit' and you can change your welcome message, your location and your visibility to others by clicking on 'change'.
  • Your location and visibility - . You can change them by clicking on 'change'.
  • Messages - Here you can see if you have any new messages or send a free SMS to a friend.
  • Friends - Here you can see how many friends are close by to you, how many MSN buddies are online, and send a free SMS to tell a friend where you are.
  • People - Here you can see how many people recently visited your profile, how many mobiluckers are nearby, who's online now, and search for people.
  • Places - Here you can see your last selected locations and seach for places nearby. You can also add a favourite place to share with others.
  • Settings - Here you manage your SMS alerts that tell you when you have new messages or when someone is nearby, invite friends to join, manage your MobiLuck and MSN accounts, change language settings and give us feedback.
